Signature Maker
Draw your signature with a mouse, pen or finger, or type it in a handwriting font, and save it cropped to its ink with a clear background, as a PNG or, when drawn, as an SVG made of paths.
About this tool What it's for, how to use it and an example
What it's for
Make a picture of your signature with a clear background, to put into a document, a letter or an email signature. Draw it with a mouse, pen or finger, or type your name in a handwriting font. The picture is cropped to the ink, so it drops straight onto a page without a white box round it.
For example, when a form needs a scanned signature, draw yours here, save the PNG and paste it into the document where it asks for one.
How to use it
Choose How to make it. Draw it: sign in the box; Undo removes the last stroke, Clear starts again, and Pen width and Colour change the line (you can change them after drawing). Type it: type your name and it is set in a handwriting script. The cropped signature is shown below, checked against a pattern so you can see its background is clear.
Save PNG downloads signature.png, as large as it was drawn. Save SVG (drawn signatures only) downloads
signature.svg, where each stroke is a smooth path that can be resized to any size, or opened in a vector
editor. The pen width and colour are remembered.
Example
Choose Type it, type Alex Example, and choose Save PNG: you get signature.png, the name in script, with a
clear background and no margin beyond the ink.
Good to know
This makes a picture of a signature. It is not a digital signature (one made with a certificate that can show a document hasn’t changed), and a picture of a signature doesn’t make a document legally binding: whether it’s accepted depends on the document and the place. Anyone who has the picture can copy it, so think before using it on files you share widely. Drawing needs a pointer (mouse, pen or finger); typing works from the keyboard. Typed signatures use Latin letters only and can’t be saved as SVG, as the font isn’t part of the file. To put a signature on a PDF page, use Sign PDF. Nothing is uploaded.
