PDF Stamp
Put page numbers on a PDF, and add a text or picture watermark to all its pages or just some of them, without uploading anything.
About this tool What it's for, how to use it and an example
What it's for
Add page numbers to a PDF, and put a word like DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, or a logo, across its pages, without sending the file anywhere. You choose which pages, where each mark goes and how faint it is, and get a new PDF; the original is untouched.
For example, to circulate a draft contract, number every page as “Page 1” and tile a pale DRAFT across them before you send it for comment.
How to use it
Choose, drop or paste a PDF. Tick what to add; you can add all three at once.
- Pages to stamp: leave blank for every page, or list pages and ranges such as
1-3, 7,10-end,odd. It applies to the numbers and both watermarks. - Page numbers: in the format,
{n}is the page’s number and{total}the last one. The first page can be left without a number; it still counts, so the next page is 2. Change the number the first page has if this PDF continues another. - Text watermark: its size, opacity, angle and colour. “One, in the centre” puts a single mark in the middle of each page; “Repeated” fills the page with rows of it.
- Picture watermark: a PNG (transparency is kept) or a JPEG, as a share of the page’s width. With two file boxes, drop a file on the box it’s for.
Stamp and save downloads the copy, named after the file with -stamped added.
Example
Choose any PDF, leave Pages to stamp blank, set the format to Page {n} of {total} and choose Stamp and
save. Each page gets, for example, “Page 3 of 12” at the bottom centre. Type 2-end instead, and tick Leave the
first page unnumbered, and the cover stays clean.
Good to know
Marks are drawn on top of the page: a watermark doesn’t hide or remove anything, and anyone with a PDF editor can take it off again. The text uses a built-in font, so it covers Western European letters, digits and common punctuation, but not other scripts. Pages that are turned or cropped get their marks in the right place as shown, but check the saved file in a PDF reader before you send it. PDFs with a password can’t be opened; digital signatures no longer verify once the file is changed. The tool can’t preview the marks before saving.
